Easy Chicken dish with Beer


(recipe from " Everyday Greek" by Argiro Barbarigou)

Serves 6

Ingredients:
  • 6 chicken drumsticks
  • 1/3 cup of greek extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 red greek onions
  • 1/4 tsp curry powder
  • 1/4 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1/4 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 500 ml beer
  • salt and freshly ground pepper
Step One

 Brown the chicken drumsticks in the olive oil, over medium high heat. Sprinkle with spices, add the onion and leave for 4-5 minutes to wilt. Season with salt and pepper. Add the beer gradually and reduce heat.(Otherwise the beer will overflow ). Put the lid on and simmer for 30 minutes over medium heat.

Step Two

 Remove the drumsticks place them in a platter and let the sauce cook over high heat until it thickens. Serve with potato or vegetable mash.
